About

Gathering Leaves

My name is Tonya Ferguson. Over the past few years I have gathered many leaves for the tree of Ferguson, Pope, Lane, Schwegler, Hood, Vaughn, and Williams. I wish I had started gathering these leaves earlier in my life when many branches of these trees were alive. Gone are my mother and father. Gone are my husband’s mother and father. Gone are our grandparents and our forefathers. Their leaves have scattered in the winds of time but their memories linger on.

It is all well and good to gather information and data documenting the lives of our ancestors. But they don’t come to life until their story is put to paper. In this case “put to blog”. It is my hope that I can share the stories of our forebears in the weeks and years to come so that my family, especially my grandchildren, can know their ancestors as I have come to know them.

Specifically I am searching for information as follows: the Ferguson’s in Bourbon County, Kansas, Rhea County, Tennessee, and Lincoln County North Carolina; the Lane’s in Pemiscot County, Missouri, Lake, Dyer, Carrol, Gibson, and Crockett County, Tennessee; the Pope’s in Bourbon County, Kansas, Macon County, Illinois, and Wake County and Edgecombe County, North Carolina; the Burt’s in Osage County, Missouri and Michigan; the Williams in Osage County, Missouri, Franklin County, Tennessee, and Madison County, Alabama; and the Hood’s in Lake County, Tennessee, Itawamba County, Mississippi, and St. Clair County, Alabama.

If you have information on these surnames in these counties please contact me. I would be happy to share any information I have with you.
